With so much going on, its hard to stop and write another blog. We’ve set a hectic pace, but we’ve never been particularly patient people. Over the past two weeks, we have moved boxes and furniture, emptied out the kitchen, put down Ramboard for more plastering, and painted trim and walls in the family room, dining room, entry and small bedroom. We are also doing lots of research, planning, and ordering of materials for our kitchen and master bathroom.
I have so much to share! The entry, living room, family room and dining room are all plastered and painted now.
Family Room
I have my sane space back but now I call it my “happy space” because the new paint makes me smile. I love this green! We are following some of the original colors in the house and using the Historic paint collection by Benjamin Moore. Each color seems to fit this house perfectly. The family room green is called Hancock Green. Our trim paint is Greek Villa by Sherwin Williams.

Dining Room
The dining room needed a little more work. First, the ceiling was in terrible shape. Back in May, David screwed in the plaster to the lath with special plaster washers. The room also had wallpaper that needed to be removed. Iorio Plastering removed the wallpaper, but I spent an evening washing off the glue so that the wall could be repaired. Once the plaster was done, David painted the walls and trim. Look at the stark difference between the yellowed and stained trim to the new white paint! This room also has a plate rail so there was little more work to finish it. For the dining room walls, I used Palladian Blue but you’ll have to wait for the complete after photo.
Entry
While the family room and dining room were being finished, everything had to be moved out. Our dining room table was in the entry and I hung out on the second floor because there was other place to sit on the first floor. Once the other rooms were complete, we moved right on to the entry. The entry has lots of white trim and columns that needed to be painted. I chose Bleeker Beige for the walls and ceiling, because it sets off the fireplace very nicely.
And More
We’ve started plastering and painting the bedrooms on the second floor, but I’ll save that for another day. Be prepared for some big news next week! Look what arrived this weekend!
