Miriam Webster defines topsy-turvy as “in utter confusion or disorder” and “upside down.” I’ve had a toilet on my porch, a bathtub in my entryway and bathroom vanities in my office. My refrigerator is in my dining room and a bookshelf holds our food. My office doesn’t actually exist as my desk, chair and computer are crammed in among boxes in the living room. I should have posted more in the past three weeks but my computer decided to die in the middle of all of this. It’s a topsy-turvy life.

To add to the chaos, our master bedroom window broke out in high winds and landed on the ground! Luckily, we were not sleeping in this bedroom at the time.

I suppose everything isn’t in complete disorder as we are following a plan for completing our kitchen, master bathroom and bedroom. We’ve moved from demolition and taking things out, to bringing new materials in.

Putting in new support beams and joists was one of Darrin’s first tasks after the demolition. We were very happy that we would be able to raise the main support beam in our kitchen for a better design. We were not so happy to discover that we needed a new beam when all we wanted was to redesign the closets. New joists were added to support our master bathroom so I don’t need to worry about the bathtub falling through the floor. It was exciting to see framing installed for new doors and rooms.

We also emptied out our final bedroom to repair walls and ceilings. The plaster repair was done by John Iorio. In November, he completed the stairwells, hallway and bedrooms. As I write this blog, all of the cracks in the house are repaired!

I have much to share and we are close to a final reveal, so look for more updates soon!
