We survived the house tour! We needed a break the last couple of weeks, so I’m just getting around to telling you about it now. We had over 300 people through our home on September 28. We enjoyed telling everyone about the renovations and showing off the work we’ve done. The Cranbury Historical Preservation Society provided wonderful docents so we did not have to do it alone. By the end of the day, our voices were hoarse!

Just the day before the tour, our workers were busy cleaning up the outside by removing the brick remnants and returning the piles of dirt next to the house. It was pretty crazy to see a front loader cozied up to our front door!

I was too busy to get photos of the day, so I will just share images of the home before everyone came through. The inside was much nicer than the outside! In fact, I overheard someone walking by the front of the house saying, “I don’t know why they are showing this house.” Once people came inside, they realized they couldn’t judge this house by its exterior.

We learned a fascinating story on the day of the tour. One of the visitors recognized the round table in our foyer. I purchased it from the Cranbury town-wide yard sale from the Boy Scouts. It turns out she donated it to them. And she had purchased the table from the estate sale at our home from the previous owners! So the little round table returned home!

We allowed people to view every room of the house–except for the closets! They could also tour the attic. However, I realize that I haven’t posted a blog on the finishing touches to the attic, so you’ll have to wait until next time!
